I have wagered on countless of hands of vingt-et-un. I started working my way into the casinos when I was sixteen. I have enjoyed online chemin de fer, I have counted cards, and worked as part of a team for a little while. Given all that I have still lost all kinds of money at vingt-et-un. The gambling dens have made it basically impossible to beat the game.
I still enjoy the game and bet on a frequent basis. Over this time period I have played a variation of 21 called "The Take it Leave it Method". You will not get loaded with this tactic or beat the casino, still you will experience a lot of fun. This method is centered on the fact that 21 appears to be a game of runs. When you are on fire your on fire, and when you’re not you are NOT!
I play basic strategy 21. When I do not win I wager the lowest amount allowed on the next hand. If I do not win again I wager the table minimum on the next hand again etc. Once I hit I take the winnings paid to me and I bet the original bet again. If I win this hand I then leave the winnings paid to me and now have double my original bet on the table. If I win again I take the payout paid to me, and if I win the next hand I leave it for a total of four times my original wager. I continue wagering this way "Take it Leave it etc". Once I don’t win I lower the action back down to the original bet.
I am very strict and do not "chicken out". It gets very thrilling sometimes. If you succeed at a few hands in sequence your bets go up very fast. Before you realize it you are betting $100-200per hand. I have had great runs a couple of times now. I left a $5 table at the Luxor a couple of years ago with $750 after 35 minutes using this tactic! And a few days ago in Vegas I left a table with $1200!
You must understand that you can say good-bye to a lot faster this way too!. But it really makes the game more enjoyable. And you will be surprised at the streaks you notice gamble this way. Below is a chart of what you would wager if you continue winning at a five dollar game.

Leave 5 dollar paid-out to you for a total wager of $10
Wager ten dollar
Take 10 dollar paid to you, leave the initial 10 dollar bet

Leave $10 paid to you for a total bet of $20
Wager 20 dollar
Take $20 paid to you, leave the original twenty dollar bet
Wager twenty dollar
Leave twenty dollar paid to you for a total bet of $40
Bet forty dollar
Take $40 paid to you, leave the initial $40 bet
Bet $40
Leave forty dollar paid-out to you for a total bet of eighty dollar
Wager $80
Take $80 paid-out to you, leave the first eighty dollar bet
Wager 80 dollar
Leave eighty dollar paid-out to you for a total bet of one hundred and sixty dollar
Wager $160
Take 160 dollar paid-out to you, leave the original $160 bet
If you departed at this point you would be up 315 dollar !!
It’s herculean to go on a streak this long, but it often happen. And when it does you can’t deviate and drop your wager or the end result will not be the same.
